Christianity is very simple; it’s not complicated.
It’s not rituals or memorization or how much money you give to a church. It doesn’t require you to be an official member of a church. There is no need to over-complicate Christianity.
In Acts 16:31, the Apostle Luke tells us: “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
This was what the Apostle Paul and Silas told the jailer after the jailer asked them: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
This is how uncomplicated Christianity actually is. You do not have to memorize every word of the Bible or responses to a pastor that are a part of a particular denomination’s rituals.
You just have to believe in Jesus and tell God that you believe in Jesus and accept him as your Lord and Savior. It really is that simple. If you want your new commitment to be made public, then you can get baptized afterwards as well.
This is why Christianity is more a relationship than a religion. This is why you can spend eternity in Heaven, with God, and not separated from God, by making a simple decision.
It doesn’t have to be complicated for even a minute. It doesn’t have to be “over-thought.” It doesn’t require you to engage in memorization or a commitment to give a particular amount of money to a church or wear special clothing or repeat certain words.
It all boils down to something that would take you a couple of minutes; pray to God, tell him that you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, that you will endeavor to live with him as your example and invite the Holy Spirit into your heart to guide you in your journey.
Easy-peazey.
Find a church that recognizes that this is the essence of Christianity and that doesn’t add any layers of ritual or repetition. If you are ready to make your relationship with Jesus public; get baptized.
It is simple. You are saved. Help others to spend eternity in Heaven and let them know what Christianity really is.
